Idea Description:
Pilots currently rely on a small, static yellow/green notification box in the upper-right corner of the Complete Flight screen to identify incoming OCC messages (e.g., corrections, approvals). This notification is easy to miss, especially during high-workload moments such as preflight preparation. As a result, pilots must proactively check the box, leading to delays, missed messages, and workflow inefficiencies.
Proposed Solution:
Enhance the visibility and delivery of OCC messages by implementing one or more of the following:
Display a prominent, larger notification box when a message is received
Add visual cues such as flashing or color changes to draw attention
Automatically display incoming OCC messages in a readable text overlay on the screen
Value / Impact:
Reduces risk of missed or delayed OCC communications
Improves pilot situational awareness during critical preflight phases
Decreases workflow interruptions and manual checking behavior
Speeds up response time to time-sensitive messages
Current Workaround / Pain Point:
Pilots must manually check a small notification box, which is not intuitive and often overlooked. This can lead to situations where pilots are ready for departure but unaware of pending OCC messages, sometimes only noticing after delays.
Who Benefits:
Pilots (primary users)
OCC (faster acknowledgment and response)
Operations overall (improved efficiency and communication reliability)
