The manifest identifier field is free text today. A pilot can type Banner Desert and it is simply left at that. Because nothing constrains the entry, the same location gets typed several different ways across manifests, which creates inconsistent destination labels and degrades the quality of the data downstream. It also drifts out of alignment with the canonical identifiers we already receive from the CAD system.
Add type-ahead autosuggest to the manifest identifier field, drawing from the sites identifiers list. As the pilot types, the field surfaces matching identifiers so they select a canonical one instead of free-typing a label. The pilot can still enter a destination that is not yet in the list (for example, a patient destination that changes in flight), and in that case we can push the new identifier back to the CAD as a suggested new location, closing the loop instead of leaving an orphaned free-text entry.
The key behavior: match on both the identifier name/title and the code, so the pilot can find a site by whichever one they remember.
As the pilot types, query the site's identifiers list and surface matches.
Match against both the identifier name and the identifier code.
Show both the name and the code in each suggestion so the pilot can confirm before selecting.
Surface recently used identifiers at the top of the list, so common destinations are one tap away.
Selecting a suggestion writes the canonical identifier onto the manifest.
Debounce input and set a minimum character threshold (suggest 2 to 3 characters) before querying.
Rank results: recently used first, then exact code match, then name "starts with," then name "contains."
If the pilot needs a destination that is not in the list (for example, the patient destination changed), allow them to enter it directly so they are never blocked.
Show a soft, non-blocking warning (same pattern as the existing "crewmember name is not in system" warning) so it is clear the entry is not a known identifier.
Pilot types Banner Desert and the dropdown shows Banner Desert Medical Center (66AZ). Selecting it populates 66AZ on the manifest.
