Request to remove or provide customization options for the grey circular background overlay displayed behind helicopter icons on the map interface.
Current Behavior
Helicopter assets are rendered with a semi-transparent grey circular background surrounding each icon. This creates visual clutter, especially in high-density operational areas where multiple aircraft are displayed in close proximity.
Problem / Impact
Reduces map readability and situational awareness
Causes icon overlap, making it difficult to distinguish individual aircraft
Obscures underlying map data (roads, boundaries, weather layers, etc.)
Becomes especially problematic during high-traffic or multi-agency operations
Requested Enhancement
Provide one or more of the following options:
Disable Grey Background (Preferred)
Add a setting to completely remove the grey circular overlay behind helicopter icons
Opacity Control
Allow adjustment of the background transparency (e.g., 0–100%)
Size Adjustment
Allow scaling of the background radius independent of the icon
Conditional Display
Option to only show the background when:
Icon is selected
Hovered over
In alert/status condition
Alternate Styling
Replace grey background with:
Thin outline ring
Status-based color ring (e.g., available, en route, unavailable)
Use Case Context
In aeromedical dispatch environments (like ours), we routinely monitor dozens of aircraft across multiple states. Clean, high-density visualization is critical for:
Rapid decision-making
Asset tracking
Dispatch efficiency
Expected Outcome
Improved visual clarity, reduced clutter, and faster identification of assets on the map.
