Enhanced Time View Functionality

Overview

The Time View within Flight Vector is an excellent operational visualization tool; however, several enhancements would significantly improve dispatcher efficiency, reduce scheduling time, and provide a more intuitive drag-and-drop workflow for managing transport requests.

These enhancements are intended to streamline dispatch operations for organizations managing multiple resources, vendors, and transport types throughout the day.

Requested Enhancements

  1. Enhanced Filtering for Unassigned Calls

Please add filtering capabilities to the Unassigned section similar to the filtering available for assets.

Examples include the ability to filter unassigned requests by:

  • Vendor

  • Department

  • Resource type

  • Transport type

  • Base/location

  • Priority

  • Other existing ticket attributes

This would allow dispatchers to focus on the subset of requests they are actively managing rather than scrolling through a large list of unrelated transports.

  1. Full Drag-and-Drop Assignment Between Assets

Allow tickets to be clicked and dragged directly from one asset to another while preserving the intuitive scheduling workflow.

Benefits include:

  • Faster reassignment of transports

  • Easier balancing of workload

  • Reduced number of clicks required during operational changes

  • Improved situational awareness during high-volume periods

  1. Drag Tickets Back to Unassigned

Provide the ability to drag a ticket from an assigned asset back into the Unassigned queue.

This would allow dispatchers to quickly remove an assignment while maintaining the ticket in the scheduling workflow without requiring additional menu actions.

  1. Reposition Unassigned Tickets Along the Timeline

Allow tickets within the Unassigned section to be dragged horizontally along the timeline to adjust their requested scheduling time before assignment.

This would make schedule planning much more intuitive during transport coordination.

  1. Preserve User-Selected Time During Assignment

Currently, when an unassigned ticket is dragged onto an asset at a different time on the timeline, the ticket reverts to its original scheduled time rather than the time where the dispatcher places it.

Instead, Flight Vector should interpret the drop location as both:

  • the selected asset, and

  • the desired scheduled time.

This behavior would be consistent with modern scheduling interfaces and eliminate the need for additional manual edits after assignment.

Operational Benefit

These enhancements would create a more intuitive dispatch experience while reducing repetitive clicks and manual schedule adjustments. For organizations coordinating multiple aircraft, ground units, vendors, and transport priorities, these improvements would enhance operational efficiency, improve dispatcher workflow, and reduce the time required to build and modify daily schedules.

Collectively, these changes would make Time View function more like an interactive scheduling board, allowing dispatchers to manage operations naturally through drag-and-drop interactions rather than multiple sequential edits.
