Optional Turn-by-Turn Directions Within Crew App for Ground Assets

What Problem Will This Feature Fix?

Ground crews using Crew App may need more detailed navigation information than simply viewing the route on the map. To view individual driving instructions, crews currently need to open or interact with the map/navigation functionality rather than having the directions readily available within the request.

IU Health would like an option to display turn-by-turn directions directly within Crew App for ground transports.

Story (Describe How This Feature Will Improve a Process Within Your Organization)

Provide an optional Directions view within Crew App that displays the calculated ground route as a written list of turn-by-turn instructions.

For example:

• Head east on Quinn Ave

• Turn right onto N 2nd St

• Turn left onto Main St

• Continue onto PA-339 S

• Turn left onto Buck Mountain Rd

• Destination will be on the left

The view could also display the distance for each step and the total trip distance.

This would not need to replace the existing map. Instead, crews could choose between Map and Directions depending on how they prefer to view the route.

Benefits:

• Gives ground crews another way to review their route.

• Allows crews to see upcoming turns without relying solely on the map view.

• Makes Crew App more useful for ground EMS operations.

• Provides quick access to the full route before or during a transport.

• Allows users to choose between visual map navigation and written directions.
