Web Homepage Navigation Improvement for Full Access Users

Description:

Problem Statement

Users with permissions to all bases currently see a single, unfiltered list of every base on the web homepage. The only available workaround is "Hide Alerts for All Bases," which removes visibility entirely rather than allowing users to narrow their focus. For users managing a large number of bases, this creates a poor navigation experience and makes it difficult to surface relevant information quickly.

Proposed Solution

Implement a homepage filtering panel — modeled after the existing OCC Dashboard filtering pattern — that allows users to selectively display bases via checkbox-based filters across three dimensions:

  • Region — filter the homepage view to one or more geographic regions

  • Program — filter by program type or category

  • Specific Bases — manually select individual bases to display

Filter selections should persist for the user's session (and ideally across sessions via saved user preferences). The UI should also provide an easy way to clear or reset filters back to the full default view.

User Story

As a user with access to all bases, I want to filter my homepage by Region, Program, or specific bases using checkboxes, so that I can quickly focus on the bases most relevant to my work without losing access to others.

Acceptance Criteria

  • A filter panel or drawer is accessible from the homepage for users with full-base permissions.

  • Users can filter by Region, Program, and/or individual bases via checkboxes.

  • Selecting filters updates the homepage base list in real time or upon apply.

  • A "Clear Filters" / "Reset to All" option is available.

  • Filter behavior mirrors the existing OCC Dashboard filter UX for consistency.

  • Filter state persists for the duration of the session at minimum.

  • Existing "Hide Alerts for All Bases" functionality is unaffected.

Additional Context

The OCC Dashboard already implements this filtering pattern successfully. Reusing or adapting that component would reduce development effort and ensure a consistent experience across the platform.

This is functionality that exists currently within the site. An Ops Suite Admin will need to enable a setting flag on the backend to have access for users to filter their homepage.
